It also prints and copies faster than similar systems CNET has tested, though it scans somewhat slowly.

I have this exact same problem. Repeat prnt back and forth process with a ‘clean’ wipe and see what you get. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Maybe it needs new parts, like a roller. Is there any place that Fx6400 can purchase the parts needed and receive instructions on how to put them in? See your printer documentation. Turns out there was a defect with the nozzle, so they sent me a new one.
Stop wasting money on rip-off Epson inks and use compatibles. The yellow was getting quite low also, so I followed procedure and changed that cartridge out as well.
